False Advertising

What a scam! On the surface it looks like Shell is advertising gas for $0.25/gallon if you get their credit card. In actuality, they'll *give you* $0.25 per gallon you buy on their gas card once you've bought 100 gallons. In other words, a $25 gift card to buy more of their gas. Good grief - always read the fine print.

And in local news...

I just heard who's running for mayor in Tuscumbia. The current Chief of Police, someone who was previously mayor (2002 - 2004) and the Frozen Food Manager at the Foodland in Tuscumbia.

I'm thinking that if I was running, I'd leave that "Frozen Food" part on, too. That way, when people hear I'm running they wouldn't just think I was in a leadership position at a local business. They'd know I truly knew my way around frozen fries, Mrs. Smith's pies, and Boca Burgers.

No Power

Our power just went out...weird; no storms or anything. The whole neighborhood looks out. Glad I was going to bed anyway...

Christmas in May

Sometimes you just need a little Christmas in your day. At Big Star in Florence Sunday, I found some holiday-flavored coffee creamer on sale. I had to pick up some gingerbread and some pumpkin spice.

This morning, I put some of the gingerbread in my coffee. Mmmmmm...it tasted like Christmas.

Then at work today, I played my Christmas music mix (about half of which is around 30 or 40 versions of "Carol of the Bells"). It made me all warm and happy inside.

Conspiracy Update

I know you all think I'm making this up.

But I'm not.

I'll give you that the lemon thing may have been a coincidence. (Unless...hey! They sure broke that story at just the right time!)

Anyway...I've been eating poorly lately, and buying from the vending machine at work like a madman. Have you ever noticed that they almost never put Milky Ways in vending machines? Or maybe they just don't in the building I work in.

Anyway, I've been buying a lot of junk from the vending machines, and was really annoyed they never have Milky Ways (my personal favorite). Ever. I've had to subsist on Watchmacallits and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. (Okay in their own right, but they're not Milky Way.)

So after doing this workout for about a month and seeing very little results, I've made the decision to go back to eating decently healthy. No more vending.

And guess what was in the vending machine yesterday?

Milky Way!!

It's all starting to add up. Now I just need to figure out who's behind it.

Pursuit of Happiness

Someone on the radio just said, "Make every day better with a breakfast sandwich from McDonald's."

I can't believe happiness has been in front of me this whole time and I've been missing it.
